Occupational therapy is a client-oriented practice. It focuses on assisting people recovering from injury to restore their way of life and function skills, helping children with disabilities to participate fully in school and social situations, and providing supports for older adults experiencing physical and cognitive changes.

It is all about client! An occupational therapist can recognize strengths and problems an individual may have in everyday life, such as dressing or getting to the grocery store, using a computer or washing dishes, and help with finding practical outcomes that fit best to that individual's needs to minimize environmental barriers and be independent.
